Rocky Mountain Concert Band

Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Rocky Mountain Concert Band encompasses a dynamic group of adult musicians ranging in age from 18 to 70+ who have a strong desire to play and perform music with style. Each piece is carefully selected to create a well-rounded repertoire. Our conductor chooses musical selections for concerts which usually have themes, most often suggested by the band members, to appeal to the audience, to feature specific instruments, to introduce musical challenges, and to explore various musical styles and moods. Our members come from all walks of life and have very diverse backgrounds. The spectrum of individuality is large: students in post-secondary education missing the camaraderie of the high school band; adults wanting a meaningful after-work outlet; those developing musicianship; and retirees wanting to return to playing a favoured instrument.

Musicians interested in joining should contact info "at" rmcb.ca. We can also be reached via snail mail at Mission P.O. Box 23060, Calgary, AB, T2S 3A8. Note that the year is split into two: September through December, and January through June. Performances take place towards the end of each of these periods which may influence when you decide to check us out. If you don't want to be intimidated, show up earlier; if you want to be impressed by the musicianship of the organization you're about to join, check us out later!

If you play or used to play an instrument and are looking for “an experience of a lifetime”, let us know! WE WORK HARD … AND ... HAVE A LOT OF FUN!

Rehearsals for the 2011-2012 season are on Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
