The Rocky Mountain Concert Band encompasses a dynamic group of adult musicians ranging in age from 18 to 90+ who have a strong desire to play and perform music with style. Each piece is carefully selected to create a well-rounded repertoire. Our music committee chooses musical selections for concerts which usually have themes, most often suggested by the band members, to appeal to the audience, to feature specific instruments, to introduce musical challenges, and to explore various musical styles and moods. Our members come from all walks of life and have very diverse backgrounds. The spectrum of individuality is large: students in post-secondary education missing the camaraderie of the high school band; adults wanting a meaningful after-work outlet; those developing musicianship; and retirees wanting to return to playing a favoured instrument.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The year is split into two sessions: September through December and January through June. Performances take place towards the end of each of these periods. We generally play music at a grade 3.5 to grade 4.5 level. We are a self-auditioning band, so please contact us to arrange to come out for a few rehearsals to see if it's a good fit!
